Lucas started his racing career in karting at age 11 and after just two years of competition had graduated to racing cars. His talent and track results prompted NASA to make an exception to the normal requirements and grant him a competition license to race cars at only 13 years old. At age 14, Lucas began competing in the Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge. By the end of his second season there, and still only 15 years old, Lucas had collected 3 race wins and a total of 9 podium finishes.
During 2013, Lucas began his professional racing career, racing a full season in the Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup and accelerating his learning curve by also competing in two Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series races with Racers Edge Motorsports. In the MX-5 Cup, he grabbed 6 podium finishes and 1 race win.
For 2014, Lucas will vie for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series Championship with Racers Edge Motorsports, driving a GS Class, Ford Mustang Boss 302R.
