Scott Pruett has teamed up with a long-time rival in a bid to score an unprecedented sixth overall victory in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. The 55-year-old Californian will join Action Express Racing for the classic races at Daytona and Sebring to open the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on January 28.
Pruett will co-drive the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Corvette DP with two-time defending Prototype champions Christian Fittipaldi and Joao Barbosa, along“It’s been awesome to be working with Action Express,” said Pruett, the driver with the most victories in major North American sports car racing history with 60 career triumphs. “It’s a great organization, and they’ve won the championship the last two years. It’s interesting to feel the differences in this type of car, because this is the first time I’ve driven a Prototype other than a Ganassi car.”
After running with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates since 2004 – winning five DP titles – Pruett will team with Paul Gentilozzi in a Lexus later in 2015. Pruett and Gentilozzi scored an overall victory in the 1994 Rolex 24 in a Nissan, and the pair won the GRAND-AM GTS class in 2002 for Jaguar.
