Lucas Bize, who turns just 18 years old next month, has signed on for a full-season with Racers Edge Motorsports for the 2014 season. This past season Bize was brought in by the team to race in two events where he showed plenty of speed and talent, impressing Racers Edge Team Owner Jon Mirachi so much, that signing him for the upcoming full season became a priority.
Bize will co-drive with David Levine in the team’s No. 78 Ford Mustang Boss 302R.
“We wanted young, fast, talented and highly motivated drivers for our run at the 2014 championship and with Lucas and David, we have the perfect pairing," said team owner Jon Mariachi. "Lucas was impressive with us last season and his success and strong finishes in the MX-5 Cup proved he could successfully drive both our high powered car and the lower powered MX-5 where precision driving was key. Heading into the season, we’re confident we have the right driver lineup to win.”
“What I’m most excited for next season is competing against extremely talented drivers at a number of my favorite tracks," added Bize. "It's definitely a challenge that I relish. My transition into the Mustang has been awesome. The Boss 302.R is a joy to drive and I feel as if I’ve been able to adjust my driving style to the point where I can start to get the most out of the car.”
Bize and Levine aren’t strangers, having raced against each other a few years ago in the Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge. They’re anxious to work together.
The team is currently preparing for one more test in late December before the Roar Before the Rolex 24 in January, where both drivers will continue working with the engineers to develop even more performance from the No. 78 Ford Mustang.
