MMG Confirms Driver Lineup for 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Season

Montreal, QC – Just three weeks following the announcement of Karl Wittmer’s return to the driver’s seat of MMG’s No. 93 TCR entry for the 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, Montreal Motorsport Group (MMG) revealed that Canadian driver LP Montour will join him in a dynamic-duo campaign. Montour will compete alongside Wittmer for the full 2025 season in the team’s Honda Civic Type R TCR entry, marking their first shared campaign together.

“MMG has proven over the 2024 season that they can run up front and truly be a championship contender,” Montour said. “I can’t wait to start the season and finish what I had started last season. For me, competing in IMPC with Karl Wittmer as a co-driver and with MMG is gold. Let’s go racing!”

In addition, the duo will be joined by Los Angeles-based Japanese driver DAI Yoshihara for the four-hour endurance races at Daytona International Speedway in January and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in June. Yoshihara, who co-drove with Wittmer in the No. 93 entry during the 2024 Michelin Pilot Challenge season, will complement the duo as they aim for strong performances in these marquee events.

“I’m super excited to return to the IMPC grid with Montreal Motorsport Group,” Yoshihara exclaimed. “Racing at Daytona, an iconic track, and at Mid-Ohio as the main event, with such a talented team is always special. Although it’s not a full-season entry for me, my focus is on delivering strong performances and making the most out of every lap.”

Montour’s experience and skill set, combined with Wittmer’s proven race craft, create a formidable pairing as the team looks to build on its successes from 2024. In 2024, Montour drove for MMG in the team’s sister car (No. 6) alongside Bryan Ortiz. LP scored MMG’s third pole position and second-fastest overall qualifying lap at Watkins Glen. Meanwhile, the No. 93 entry, driven by Wittmer and teammate Yoshihara, impressed with a standout second half of the season, securing three pole positions, four podium finishes and a win, finishing fifth in the 2024 Michelin Pilot Challenge championship points. Notably, the No. 93 Honda Civic Type R achieved Honda’s very first IMSA TCR victory, making it a milestone year for both MMG and the brand.

“I’m more than excited to be back with MMG and Honda this season,” said Wittmer. “We’ve generated tons of momentum with strong results last year and our driver lineup fits our goals to win perfectly heading into 2025. LP, Dai and I have really great chemistry working together and the Honda suits our driving styles nicely. Daytona can’t come soon enough!”

MMG’s 2025 season lineup promises to be a competitive force in the TCR class, with Wittmer, Montour and Yoshihara forming a talented trio as they seek success on the challenging IMSA circuits.

A Strong Partnership with HRC and JAS Motorsport

As MMG prepares for 2025, the team is thrilled to continue its collaboration with Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and JAS Motorsport, which played a crucial role in the success of the 2024 season. This strong relationship, combined with the remarkable performance of the FL5 chassis, sets the stage for an exciting and competitive 2025 campaign in addition to the Honda Civic Type R being named 2024 TCR Model of the Year by the WSC Group, the creators of TCR.

Benjamin Distaulo, team principal & co-owner, expressed his excitement about the new driver pairing and the team’s aspirations for 2025: “HRC and JAS Motorsport’s incredible support in 2024 was a key factor in our success, and we look forward to continuing that growth and collaboration in 2025. Our mutual goal is clear—an IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Championship for Honda. With Karl’s incredible race craft, LP’s driving experience and DAI’s talent, we’re confident in our ability to challenge for the title. The FL5 chassis has proven to be exceptional, and we can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together next season.”
