Wednesday, May 4, 2016

Scuderia Corsa claimed their first DEKRA Green Award win at the Monterey Grand Prix on Sunday. The no. 68 Ferrari 488 GTE was the fastest, most efficient car on the track. Handed out for the last two seasons, the Green award is a centerpiece of the Green Racing partnership between IMSA, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). It is sponsored by DEKRA, IMSA’s lead technical partner which supplies all independent pre-and post-race technical and safety inspections.

"On behalf of the drivers and crew, we are very proud to receive the DEKRA Green Award for the first time in Laguna Seca", said Giacomo Mattioli, Scuderia Corsa team owner. "In order to be successful in IMSA, speed is only one part of the equation. Efficiency and fuel mileage is equally important, and we are fortunate to have a Ferrari 488 GTE that combines all of those elements into a great package."

DEKRA has a long tradition of involvement with elite motorsports events and made the company a natural partner with IMSA. “As a leader in automotive emissions and safety testing and sustainability, we are proud to sponsor the DEKRA Green Award, which recognizes these elite green racers,” said Donald O. Nicholson, CEO and President of DEKRA NA., “and we are very excited to be partnering with IMSA and the WeatherTech Championship Series.”

At the end of the season an overall Green Award winner will be crowned. Learn more about the Green Award here.
