Elkhart Lake, Wis. (7 August 2016) —There is no place like home and Kelly-Moss Road and Race made the most of the annual IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup presented by Yokohama visit to Road America this weekend with a huge double 1-2 race weekend. Kelly-Moss Road and Race is based in Madison, Wisconsin, and Road America has been intrinsically linked to the teams long record of success racing with Porsche through the decades.

Drivers Jesse Lazare, Jake Eidson, Mike Hedlund, and Bill Peluchiwski added to that racing record at the 4-mile circuit this weekend as the full IMSA weekend attracted another bumper crowd of racing fans to the legendary circuit.

The Porsche GT3 Cup double-header race weekend not only saw Kelly-Moss take two 1-2 finishes, but it also featured a huge team effort to rally from a crash early in the weekend to be ready to go on race day.

"This was just unbelievable,” said Kelly-Moss Team Principal Jeff Stone. “Any time we can do this in front of our family and friends at home and put on a show like this is great. I'm humbled to have the opportunity to work with such quality people. Mike Hedlund and Bill Peluchiwski and these young kids Jesse (Lazare) and Jake (Eidson), they're our future. You're going to see Jake and Jesse, and all of these kids for years to come and they're really phenomenal kids. Our series is an incubator for the talent that we need to go on in GT road racing and in prototype road racing. All these kids are just proof positive that this program and this series works. We just couldn't be happier.”

Saturday’s Round 9 race featured a flag-to flag run of green flag racing as Lazare converted a smart race start to lead every lap on the way to victory. The Canadian ace’s 6.921-second victory in the No. 21 Kelly-Moss Road and Race Porsche entry grew his lead in the championship standings.

Making a big first impression with his runner-up finish was young Jake Eidson, who made a rapid adaptation to sports car racing behind the wheel of the No. 95 Kelly Moss Road and Race Porsche GT3. Mike Hedlund finished 10th on the day, as Bill Peluchiwski finished fifth in the Platinum Masters class.

That Peluchiwski was even able to race was a tribute to the all hands on deck effort of the Kelly-Moss squad following a practice day crash that left Peluchiwski’s Porsche with significant damage. But with team owner Jeff Stone leading the charge and pitching in with the help of Brad DeVries and Nick “Bear” Skrade, the team was able to have the car ready to race.

Sunday’s race featured another compelling run from Lazare, who built a lead and then was able to defend it following a late race restart. Once again, it was Eidson who gave chase, taking an encore podium in his first weekend with Kelly-Moss Road and Race.

Hedlund had a strong run to improve to fifth at the finish, as Peluchiwski took 11th overall to also earn a podium finish with a third place Platinum Masters result.

The run to victory was another forward step in the championship battle for Lazare, who was able to grow his margin over the field with six races yet to go in the 2016 championship.

Next up for Kelly-Moss in IMSA will be VIRginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia on August 26-28 for a double-header race weekend.

Kelly-Moss Road and Race will be back in action next weekend at Utah Motorsports Campus in Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA competition.
