Stoner Car Care to field three-car team for Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta finale

Stoner Car Care will sponsor three Aston Martins fielded by Automatic Racing in Friday’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) season finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (live stream Friday www.imsa.tv 1:15 PM ET).

Covering both ends of the spectrum for the immaculately prepared Aston Martins, the entry includes a pair of the new Aston Vantage GT4 for the two-hour race on the 12-turn, 2.54-mile circuit, along with a veteran car competing in its final IMPC event.

“I’ve got bittersweet feelings about ending the season,” said Automatic Racing owner David Russell. “On one hand, we’ve got the GS cars ready to go racing and we’d like to continue, but we’ve also got a fair amount of stuff going on through the off-season. I feel we’ve got a good shot at Road Atlanta. Two years ago we finished second, and the year before that we finished third. We’ve been knocking, and maybe it’s time to get to the top step.”

Gary Ferrera and Kris Wilson will co-drive the No. 97 Invisible Glass Aston Martin Vantage GT4. The pair co-drove to second in the four-hour opening race at Daytona International Speedway, and finished 11th in the most recent race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

“I think the No. 99 could be really good on the soft Michelin tire,” Russell said. “That car is super easy on the tire, and that compound wears a bit. If we get long, green-flag runs, believe it or not, that old car’s going to be really tough to beat.”

All three entries will be sponsored by Stoner Care Car Products, Invisible Glass, Rogue Engineering and Melbourne BMW.
