Social Media Evangelist

Who wouldn’t want to start every day interacting with a passionate, global fan base? That’s what you will be doing as the Social Media Manager of IMSA – the International Motorsports Association – the one form of motorsport that a recent headline shouted is “not spinning its wheels.”

We are in search of someone who can tell our story through our various social channels and website. The bond between those fans and our teams, drivers and manufacturers from 19 premium worldwide automotive brands is yours to connect and manage.

Tasks for this stimulating position, include developing unique content that can make a 600-horsepower race car going over 180 miles per hour jump out of a Twitter feed. Organize and execute social media campaigns that engage these avid enthusiasts while at the same time grow our sport. We need you to be part of an experienced group that includes the communications staff while working closely with marketing and partnership teams.

The Coordinator of Social Media is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned social media accounts, which reaches fans, marketing partners, teams and drivers, among others.

Tasks include developing unique and original content, coordinating social media campaigns to drive traffic and increase engagement, auditing brand channel audiences, researching external engagement opportunities and monitoring of all platforms to advise of current chatter and potential brand and/or public relations issues. Additional responsibilities include researching emerging platforms and advising the Director of Communications on how to further evaluate or implement those into IMSA’s corporate message. Provide social media support for crisis management situations.

With a focus on amplification of digital content, the Coordinator of Social Media will also assist the marketing and partnership teams with planning, content implementation, distribution and reporting of our race weekends, events and projects.


Manage IMSA’s social media presence across social media channels, including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Assist in the planning of social media content calendar.

Collaborate with marketing and partnership teams to create unique multimedia, copy and content for social media outlets, including videos, graphics for deliverables, campaigns, real-time coverage and more.

Use social media channels to increase brand recognition which highlights teams, drivers, manufacturers and partners, improves value perception, engages fans, and promotes race weekend and events.

Share news, create conversations, gather fan sentiment and drive innovation across all key social media outlets

Evolve IMSA’s voice for each social media channel in a way that is innovative and engaging, while remaining consistent with sanctioning body’s core values.

Provide race weekend support through live social media coverage by working with in-place streaming services.

Grow assigned social media channels following.

Respond to fans comments via social media channels promptly and with the correct information.

Compile, report and analyze social media analytics to guide strategy and best practices. Work with IMSA partner Hookit to advance social platforms. Advise on best practices and future opportunities from those insights.

Continuously assess communications and marketing strategies and apply industry practices while staying up-to-date on industry trends and move IMSA to the forefront of the digital marketing landscape.

Coordinates multiple projects around tight deadlines.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Sports Management or Multimedia preferred.

Well-versed in utilizing social media management tools.

Familiarity working with a variety of social media platforms, as well as other digital creation and distribution tools that go beyond social media.

Experience executing digital content and social media strategies to align with audience behaviors, goals and key messages to drive audience engagement.

Ability to evaluate and edit the content, structure and format of a range of digital material spanning text and multimedia.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work well under tight deadlines.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software, specifically Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator.

Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to work effectively, manage expectations and interact with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
