MacNeil, WeatherTech Racing Return Home to Road America

For Cooper MacNeil, this weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Road America won’t necessarily be a long-awaited homecoming.

He was just there four days ago.

Still living in the Chicago area, MacNeil hails from Hinsdale, Illinois, just two and a half hours away from the fan-favorite, 4.048-mile circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Trips to Road America, like last weekend’s Milwaukee Region SCCA race, are common.

VISIT FLORIDA Racing Eager for Ligier Debut at Road America

For several teams in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Prototype class, this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America starts a championship push with just three races remaining on the schedule. But for others, the final three races are more about looking ahead and gathering information for the 2018 WeatherTech Championship season.

One of those teams is VISIT FLORIDA Racing, which recently took delivery of the Ligier LM P2 race car that will make its maiden race appearance this weekend at Road America.

IMSA Will Return To Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course On May 4-6, 2018

In a news conference this morning at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) President Scott Atherton and Mid-Ohio President Craig Rust jointly announced the return of IMSA racing to the historic, 2.258-mile road course on the weekend of May 4-6, 2018.

The event weekend will be headlined by the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which will compete at Mid-Ohio for the first time. In addition, the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge will return for the first time since 2013.

Continental Tire Road Race Showcase At Road America Set For 35 WeatherTech Championship Race Cars Among Four Classes

After nearly a one-month break, the Prototype class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns to headline a four-class race at the four-mile Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on Sunday, Aug. 6. The two-hour, 40-minute Continental Tire Road Race Showcase will be televised live on FS1 beginning at 2:30 p.m.

USA TODAY readers recently confirmed what IMSA race fans have known for quite some time:  the Rolex 24 At Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida belong among the world’s 10Best Motorsports events.

The Twelve Hours of Sebring came in at No. 4 on the 10Best Readers’ Choice list, with the Rolex 24 taking ninth place in the online vote. The Sebring race was recognized for the second consecutive time, also making the inaugural list in 2015.

No. 67 Claims Third Consecutive DEKRA Green Award at Lime Rock Park

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing continues to sweep the summer stretch of DEKRA Green Awards, being recognized for the third consecutive race as the cleanest, fastest and most efficient car in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) field.

Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook in the No. 67 Ford GT crossed the finish line fifth on Saturday’s Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park and are holding steady in the championship standings in fourth place, 16 points behind the No. 3 Corvette Racing team.
