WEATHERTECH SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP PARTNER MICHELIN
Michelin’s unique experience and relentless focus on innovation makes it the technical partner of choice for many top manufacturer and independent teams in motorsports. Michelin has an outstanding record in motorsports endurance racing and has claimed the last 22 consecutive overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Motorsports is an integral part of Michelin’s research and development process, and the specialists who operate out of its Technology Centers in Europe, North America and Asia work hand-in-hand with Michelin’s Motorsport engineers and Motorsport Tire Specialists to develop technologies first in racing tires and then carry over the resulting innovations to the company’s street tires.
In 2019, Michelin takes on a significantly expanded role as the new Official Tire of IMSA. Michelin is the exclusive tire provider for the WeatherTech Championship DPi, LMP2 and GT Daytona classes, both the GS and TCR classes in the IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge series, and the LMP3 class in the IMSA Prototype Challenge. The WeatherTech Championship GT Le Mans class remains an open tire category.
Michelin technical partner teams claimed all 11 GTLM class victories and 33 podium places in the 2018 WeatherTech Championship as Corvette Racing secured the IMSA GTLM Team and Driver Championships, while Ford claimed the Manufacturer Championship.
In addition to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Michelin races at Le Mans, in major endurance races worldwide, and in the FIA World Endurance Championship, ABB FIA Formula E Championship, MotoGP World Championship and FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).
The IMSA season concludes at the newly renamed Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta with Motul Petit Le Mans.
