Daytona 500 Winner Dillon Added to RWR Eurasia Lineup for Rolex 24

NASCAR Driver Will Race in LMP2 Class

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Austin Dillon has already won one major event at Daytona International Speedway. He’ll try for another in January.

The 2018 Daytona 500 winner in the NASCAR Cup Series is among the drivers named to pilot RWR Eurasia’s Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) entry in the 2021 Rolex 24 At Daytona, the season opener for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Joining Dillon in the RWR Eurasia Ligier JS P217 will be Cody Ware, the 2019-2020 LMP2 Am champion in the Asian Le Mans Series, and Salih Yoluc, winner at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Am class. A fourth driver for the team will be named later.

Coming up through the NASCAR ranks, Dillon won the Camping World Truck Series championship in 2011 and followed that two years later with an Xfinity Series title. He has three career NASCAR Cup Series victories, including winning NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious race on the famous Daytona 2.5-mile tri-oval in 2018. He’ll vie for a triumph on Daytona’s 3.56-mile road course when RWR Eurasia makes its WeatherTech Championship debut at the Rolex 24. The green flag for the 24-hour race is set to wave at 3:40 p.m. ET Saturday, Jan. 30.

Dillon joins a growing list of NASCAR competitors who will compete in the Rolex 24, including the likes of seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, reigning Cup Series champion Chase Elliott and AJ Allmendinger.

The Roar Before the Rolex 24 runs Jan. 22-24 on the Daytona road course and includes the inaugural Motul Pole Award 100 qualifying race to set the starting lineup for the Rolex 24. Track action for Rolex 24 race week begins Jan 27.
