VGRT Expands IMSA Hyundai Elantra N TCR Program

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Victor Gonzalez Racing Team (VGRT) will expand its IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge program with the addition of a second Hyundai Elantra N TCR entry for the 2025 season. Building upon its success in the Touring Car (TCR) class, VGRT’s expanded program underscores its commitment to Hyundai Motorsports with a seasoned driver lineup and primary sponsor for the upcoming season.

Lance Bergstein and Jon Miller are the first driver pairing to be confirmed, joining the 10-race schedule with an ambitious vision and the support of a proven team. While Bergstein and Miller have previously shared the cockpit in high-profile one-off races, including the Rolex 24, the upcoming season marks their first full-season campaign together.

Bergstein, who competed in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance series in 2023 and notched multiple podiums and a win in GT4 America in 2024, expressed his anticipation for a full-season effort:

“I am excited to have finally put together a full season in IMSA. This has always been the goal ever since first sitting in a race car,” said Bergstein. “The competition will be high, but we have assembled a complete package here on all fronts. The Hyundai Elantra N TCR is a fantastic platform, and with the support of VGRT, Lincoln Equities Group and Jon, we will do some great things this season.”

Miller has experience and success in the IMSA paddock, including Michelin Pilot Challenge Grand Sport (GS) class podiums, a victory, and a recent campaign in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s Michelin Endurance Cup with the McLaren 720S GT3 in the Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class. Miller’s background also includes championship wins in GT4 in the U.S. and Europe and successful stints in international GT3 racing, notably in the Asian Le Mans Series and GT World Challenge Europe, in addition to his work as a sought-after driver coach.

“Lance and I are beyond excited to be back in IMSA together for a full TCR season with VGRT and Hyundai Motorsports,” said Miller. “While Lance and I have a long history together, this is a reunion of sorts on a few levels. We raced with Victor’s team at Watkins Glen in TCR a couple of seasons ago as a one-off and showed great pace there at one of our favorite tracks. I’ve kept in touch with Victor and Bryan Herta over the past few years, always looking for the right opportunity to campaign a full season in a Hyundai TCR, so it’s exciting that we’ve found it together. I’m thrilled that we’re entering this program with a strong alliance and the ingredients for success.”

Team Owner Gonzalez echoed this enthusiasm and spoke to the team’s commitment to their Hyundai partnership. “It’s great to have the opportunity to work with Lance and Jon again—I believe they will be a very strong pairing,” Gonzalez remarked. “We’re excited to bring another competitive Hyundai TCR to the field, ready to fight for wins. It’s important to us to demonstrate our commitment to the partnership with Bryan Herta Autosport and Hyundai USA, and we look forward to a successful season together.”

VGRT’s newest entry in the TCR class solidifies the team’s strength with the support of Hyundai Motorsports and a robust driver-team partnership. The program is expected to bring significant competition to the TCR field in 2025, showcasing the team’s commitment to excellence and maximizing the performance capabilities of the Hyundai Elantra N TCR. Further team announcements will be made in the coming weeks.

The 2025 season kicks off with the Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway, January 17-19. Fans can catch all races live on Peacock, ensuring access to every moment of the action.
