New Event is a Virtual Extension of Resilient Racers Program
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – One week before the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a special bonus iRacing by IMSA Esports event will occur at virtual Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a good cause.
The IMSA Resilient Racers 240 is a charity Esports race hosted on iRacing by IMSA Esports in partnership with Grid Finder. It will run Saturday, September 12, at 11 a.m. ET for a two-hour, 40-minute race featuring virtual Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) cars, with each competing car carrying the name of a child selected by the two charities.
The race serves as the Esports kickoff to the wider Resilient Racers program, raising funds for IMSA’s two proud charity partners, Austin Hatcher Foundation and Camp Boggy Creek, through in-race, donation-triggered mechanics. A link to pledge can be found here.
This event also mirrors the real-world Resilient Racers program with the names on the cars at Indianapolis. The program premiered last year in the six-hour TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks; this year’s event will run the two-hour, 40-minute race length.
The event is set to be broadcast across IMSA’s YouTube channel, iRacing’s official channels, and Grid Finder, with additional promotional support from Traxion.GG, one of the leading media outlets covering sim racing and Esports motorsports content.
Up to 44 cars will race the IMSA Resilient Racers 240, with the top 40 qualifying drivers going through Pre-Qualifying Time Attack on iRacing. There are four wild card entries available as well.
Fans will have multiple donation options to trigger penalties to cars within the race, for entertainment and fundraising purposes. The four available are reducing speed, letting a car pass, a drive-through and a full-course yellow.
As September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the IMSA Resilient Racers program was created to raise awareness and funds so both charities can continue providing vital resources, programs, and care to children and families who are bravely facing pediatric cancer and other serious illnesses.
Participating WeatherTech Championship race teams have been paired with a child from either the Austin Hatcher Foundation or Camp Boggy Creek.
The full 2026 IMSA Esports Global Championship season begins later in September, with the first round from virtual Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Sunday, September 27.
