Thomas, Huffaker in Second Car; Lutke, Beche Continue for Second Season; Meguetounif, DHH as Silver Third Drivers
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – TDS Racing is set to expand its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program back to a two-car effort in Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) in 2027 and welcome back some old friends in the process.
The Saint-Aunès, France-based team that has raced full-time in IMSA since 2023 will return to a two-car effort for the first time since 2023 with a pair of ORECA LMP2 07s. A six-time IMSA race winner, TDS Racing made its 40th IMSA start to cap off the 2026 campaign at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta with this year’s Motul Petit Le Mans.
For a second straight year, Tobi Lutke and Mathias Beche will continue in the team’s No. 11 ORECA, joined by new third driver, up-and-coming young Frenchman Sami Meguetounif.
Meanwhile, Steven Thomas returns after a year away as one of IMSA’s top Bronze-rated drivers and will share the No. 29 ORECA with Scott Huffaker and David Heinemeier Hansson.
Thomas, Meguetounif and Huffaker were in title contention down to the wire for the 2026 European Le Mans Series LMP2 Pro/Am division and won together at Silverstone.
“2027 marks an exciting new chapter for TDS Racing,” said TDS Racing team owner Xavier Combet. “Expanding to a two-car program in IMSA reflects both our ambition and our long-term commitment to the championship. We are proud to continue our journey with Tobi, David and Mathias, while welcoming Steven back alongside Scott, as well as Sami, who will be making his IMSA debut. We have built something strong over the past seasons, and our goal is clear: to keep pushing forward, fight at the front, and compete for victories and championships.”
No. 11 Lineup Breakdown
Lutke shifted to TDS Racing for the 2026 season and enjoyed his best season-to-date in the highly competitive LMP2 class, where he scored his second podium alongside Beche and Hansson at Road America with a third-place performance.
Beche has raced intermittently in IMSA since 2017 but is a sports car veteran having raced across Europe and Asia as well. The 2026 season was set to be his first full-time IMSA campaign, although he missed Sebring with an illness.
Meugetounif has plied his trade moving through the European open-wheel ranks, winning races in Formula 3 and 4. He’s been an excellent addition to the TDS roster with his success in European Le Mans this year and will make his IMSA debut in 2027.
No. 29 Lineup Breakdown
Thomas appeared to end his full-time driving career on a high note when he, Mikkel Jensen and Hunter McElrea scored a double back-to-back set of wins at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Motul Petit Le Mans in 2024 and 2025. But after a year competing in European Le Mans, Thomas will return back to the IMSA paddock in 2027.
A seven-time IMSA winner and six-time Motul Pole Award winner, Thomas has been one to reckon with in his five full-time seasons from 2021 to 2025. He finished third, fourth and second in the LMP2 championship with TDS from 2023 to 2025 and won back-to-back IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup championships with Jensen and McElrea in 2024 and 2025.
Huffaker has five IMSA wins, all in Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, from 2020 to 2022. His most recent IMSA start came in 2024 with TDS Racing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, as a fill-in for Jensen owing to a schedule conflict. The young American is set to embark on his first full-time IMSA season.
Hansson has a longtime IMSA resume and is a past LMP2 class winner in the American Le Mans Series and GTE Am class winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Alongside Lutke in 2026, TDS paired a pair of programmers in an LMP2 car.
