IMSA PARTNER MOTUL
Motul, a company known around the world for producing high-quality performance motor oils and industrial lubricants, has joined the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) in a long-term partnership, during their inaugural entitlement of this weekend’s Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
Beginning with the 2018 season, Motul becomes the “Official Motor Oil” of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.
“Motul is a highly respected, premium motor oil brand that is an ideal match for IMSA and the many other premium brands involved with our platforms,” said IMSA President Scott Atherton. “Motul is recognized globally as a leader in its industry, just as IMSA has achieved similar status in motorsports. As evidenced by this weekend’s 20th Motul Petit Le Mans finale and activations at a multitude of venues on the IMSA calendar, Motul is extremely active in promoting its products through our sport and will be even more so through our new partnership.
Motul has the entitlement rights for the Motul Pole Award for the WeatherTech Championship Prototype (P) and GT Daytona (GTD) classes, as well as all Continental Tire Challenge classes which includes cars eligible for the award running two Motul decals. In addition to its entitlement of the Motul Petit Le Mans and overall partnership with Road Atlanta, Motul has established partnerships with seven additional WeatherTech Championship venues and events.
“Motul has been involved with the 24 Hours of Le Mans since the 1950’s; very few brands can commit to such persistence and passion for endurance racing,” said Motul USA president Guillame Pailleret. “The IMSA team and sponsors have turned IMSA into a North American racing powerhouse. We see a great fit and we are honored to be part of the IMSA adventure on a multi-year deal. Six decades of endurance racing have been providing us with a unique laboratory opportunity for our produce formulations, exposing powertrains to the most hostile conditions. Races like those change companies like us. We can’t wait to meet the IMSA fans across the United States and Canada.”
