A proven race winner in the Michelin Pilot Challenge, Pombo has scored several race wins and pole positions in the past. He will be reunited with several familiar faces since he drove for LAP’s Mini and Honda TCR programs in the past, where he worked with CSM lead engineer and LAP co-owner Rob Ridgely and Luis Perocarpi.

Mat Pombo: “I’m super excited to be joining the Czabok-Simpson Motorsports team for Laguna Seca.  They have made great strides with their Porsches over the first two weekends and I look forward to getting behind the wheel to see if we can come home with a top-five result. Such a great pleasure to rejoin my racing family at LAP Motorsports with Rob Ridgely and Luis Perocarpi for the weekend. We have had tremendous success in the past, and I fully expect us to be back to our usual competitive natures.  Can’t wait to get to California in May.”

Stephen Simpson, managing partner/co-owner, Czabok-Simpson Motorsports: “We are happy to welcome Mat to the team. Mat has had an extensive and successful career racing in IMSA and we look forward to him getting behind the wheel of our No. 2 Porsche GT4 that he will share with Gordon. I’m confident that Gordon and Mat will make a strong line up and we are looking forward to a successful weekend.”
