Five Wild Finishes From IMSA Endurance Races

Let’s Relive Some Thrilling Decisive Moments from Recent WeatherTech Championship Endurance Races

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Last weekend’s dramatic finish in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring was just the latest pulsating conclusion to an IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race. There have been many, and we’ve gathered a few of our recent favorites to share once again.

So sit back, hold on tight and enjoy reliving these memorable moments that played a decisive role in the outcome at some of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races in the past few years.

2023 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring

It took place on Saturday, so it’s likely fresh in the memory banks. Less than 20 minutes to go after nearly 12 hours on the treacherous and unpredictable Sebring International Raceway – under the blanket of darkness. Three GTP cars are battling for the overall lead and race win when they come upon lapped traffic. Chaos ensues.

The debut race for the GTD PRO class will go down as one of the most intense and exciting in history. A pair of Porsches – the blue and white KCMG driven by Laurens Vanthoor and the plaid red and black Pfaff Motorsports piloted by Mathieu Jaminet – held nothing back chasing the victory.

2021 Motul Petit Le Mans

It was the battle for second place in the race, but also for the DPi championship in a winner-take-all season finale. Felipe Nasr in the Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac versus Ricky Taylor in the Konica Minolta Acura. Hold your breath and watch what happens.

Again it’s Taylor – this time wheeling the Acura Team Penske Acura DPi – going up against the Whelen Cadillac – this time with Pipo Derani driving. In a rare year when the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta event was not the season finale, it still contained vital race win and DPi championship ramifications. What followed were fireworks on track and after the race.

Ricky Taylor once again provides an intense finish. In a duel between DPi Cadillacs, Taylor in the Konica Minolta entry squares off with Filipe Albuquerque in the Mustang Sampling Racing Caddy. They’re teammates and friends now but that wasn’t quite the case back then.
