Motul Lubricants and Sustainable Racing: Pioneering the Future with IMSA

The Official Motor Oil of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge is Focused on Developing Eco-Friendly Lubricants for Both Racing and Consumer Applications

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Motul, a renowned name in the lubricant industry, has embarked on a sustainable journey that not only enhances performance but also contributes to environmental well-being. Through strategic collaborations with IMSA to utilize the racetrack as the ultimate test laboratory, Motul is leading the way in developing eco-friendly lubricants for both racing and consumer applications.

Motul’s partnership with IMSA goes beyond the racetrack. Teams and partners within the series are actively involved in the development of the latest generation of 300V motor oil, a high-performance lubricant tested and proven for over 50 years inside racing engines. The latest generation of Motul 300V, debuting in 2021, has integrated synthetic organic base stocks in the range without any compromise on performance. This use of non-fossil renewable materials limits the environmental impact and allows Motul to lower its carbon footprint by up to 25 percent during the manufacturing process.

Motul’s commitment to utilizing organic and sustainable materials reflects a dedication to balancing high-performance demands with ecological responsibility. IMSA teams like Pfaff Motorsports, Iron Lynx, Era Motorsports, Riley, and all teams utilizing Gibson powertrains continue to trust 300V to hold up under the pressures of racing.

Motul’s sustainable approach extends beyond racing with the introduction of the NGEN Hybrid consumer product. This product incorporates similar organic base oils used in the 300V motor oil, offering consumers a sustainable option for their everyday vehicles. With the introduction of NGEN 5 and NGEN 7 for motorcycles, Motul is also utilizing premium regenerated base oils that have been very carefully selected and combined to maintain the performance at the expected level. By blending cutting-edge technology with eco-friendly components, Motul is revolutionizing the consumer lubricant market and offering outstanding protection.

Beyond the new NGEN products, Motul is actively involved in the development of electric vehicles (EVs) as well. A new collaboration with Green Corp Konnection (GCK), a pioneer in electric mobility, showcases Motul’s commitment to innovation as both brands are jointly working on immersion battery technology for EVs, aiming to improve energy storage efficiency and overall performance. This collaboration represents Motul’s dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the automotive industry, aligning with the global shift towards new methods of transportation that we see across IMSA’s Sustainability program.

In addition to electric mobility, Motul is exploring hydrogen conversions on gasoline motors as part of its forward-thinking initiatives. Hydrogen-powered vehicles have gained attention as a clean alternative to traditional gasoline engines. Motul’s involvement in this realm signifies a versatile approach to sustainability, retaining the same sound and characteristics of a traditional combustion engine while ensuring lower emissions.

Motul’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond its products and collaborations. The company actively provides development support to IMSA and its partners in building the next generation of racing vehicles. This includes sharing expertise, technological insights, and contributing to the overall advancement of sustainable racing practices.

By incorporating organic base oils in racing motor oil, introducing sustainable consumer products, and actively participating in the development of electric and hydrogen-powered technologies, Motul is setting a new standard for eco-conscious innovation in the lubricant and racing sectors. As the automotive industry evolves, Motul remains a driving force, propelling sustainability to the forefront of performance and innovation.
