Gatting, Frey and Bovy Will Drive No. 83 Porsche 911 GT3 R in Michelin Endurance Cup Races, with Gaillard added for Rolex 24 At Daytona
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Iron Dames all-female driver project is partnering with Porsche for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with drivers Michelle Gatting, Rahel Frey and Sarah Bovy set to pilot the No. 83 Porsche 911 GT3 R in the Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class for the five IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races on the calendar.
Karen Gaillard will join the driver lineup for the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona in January. Longtime stalwart team Proton Competition will prepare the car for competition.
Iron Dames has competed in the WeatherTech Championship endurance races over the past two seasons with Lamborghini power, posting a best finish of sixth place in this year’s Rolex 24 At Daytona. The new partnership will run under the “Porsche X Iron Dames” banner and include young driver support from the manufacturer.
“Porsche stands for a culture of equal opportunities and diversity,” said Thomas Laudenbach, vice president of Porsche Motorsport. “Encouraging women to get involved in motorsport and then supporting them in open competition is something we value highly. In this context, we’ve seen that the Iron Dames project is well-structured and was very successful in recent years.
“Since our customer teams have already celebrated victories with the Iron Dames, we’re now taking the next logical step. We’re very confident that the collaboration in all series will reap excellent results and we can highlight our contribution to supporting female racing drivers with victories and podium finishes.”
The alliance will also see Iron Dames competing in Porsche machinery in the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series as the project strives to develop more talented women racers. As part of the partnership, Gatting has been named a Porsche driver under contract.
“It’s an honor to join forces with such a prestigious brand as Porsche Motorsport, that shares the same ambition of leaving a lasting legacy in motorsport while driving progress” Iron Dames project founder Deborah Mayer said. “The Iron Dames project has always been rooted in the power of dreams to shatter barriers, and our journey is not just about competing at the highest level but also proving that the racing world holds a place for everyone with passion and determination.
“Together, we aim to set a new course for empowering women in endurance racing by 2025, developing future female drivers, reshaping perceptions and inspire the next generation. Porsche X Iron Dames is more than a new momentum for women in motorsport, it’s a powerful statement that every dream, no matter how ambitious, is worth pursuing.”
