Porsche Affirms IMSA GTP Commitment

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Porsche has reaffirmed its commitment to the top-level IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for the 2026 season with Porsche Penske Motorsport as part of a restructuring of its global motorsports program.

The IMSA Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) effort with the Porsche 963, set to go into its fourth season of competition in 2026, will go alongside its FIA Formula E Championship effort.

“We use motorsport as a development platform for future technology and to illustrate the potential of our sports cars,” says Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport. “With the Porsche 963 in the North American IMSA series and the Porsche 99X Electric in the Formula E World Championship, we want to continue to fight for overall victories in the future. That is our tradition and our focus.”

Heading into Motul Petit Le Mans, the 2025 WeatherTech Championship season finale, the Porsche Penske Motorsport two-car entry sits 1-2 in the WeatherTech Championship.

Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell in the No. 6 Porsche 963 lead teammates Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr in the No. 7 Porsche 963 by 131 points. Porsche leads Acura by seven points in the GTP manufacturer’s championship.
