LB Cup Is Closest Championship Battle Among the Four Classes

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America teams head to Road America for Rounds 7 and 8 of the 2026 season, where the class battles for championships may intensify. LB Cup is the closest of the four battles with Pro and Am also relatively tight, while ProAm has a clear leader.
Pro
A weekend sweep at Watkins Glen International moved Elias De La Torre (No. 29 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2) to the head of the championship table over his former teammate, Will Bamber (No. 33 XONINE Racing, Lamborghini Chicago, Huracán). De La Torre has Dennis Lind back alongside him this weekend; a win for the young driver would mean he’d have captured a checkered flag alongside three different co-drivers in what could be a championship season.
Bamber and Darius Trinka will look to reclaim the top spot, after winning their first race together at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in May and scoring two important podium finishes in Watkins Glen.
Wayne Taylor Racing seeks a bounce back weekend after a tough Watkins Glen, and Road America may be the perfect venue for them to do so. Hampus Ericsson and Danny Formal swept the weekend here last year and Ericsson, along with Nick Persing, need a big weekend to stay in the title battle now down 29 points in their No. 1 WTR, Lamborghini Palm Beach, Huracán.
RAFA Racing Team impressed at Watkins Glen with a pair of podiums for Tyler Gonzalez and Kiko Porto in their No. 2 Lamborghini Austin Huracán, with the duo set to continue for a second consecutive race weekend.
ProAm
Formal and Graham Doyle, in their No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing, Lamborghini Palm Beach, Huracán have enjoyed a dream season to date with six wins from six starts and a 36-point lead heading into Road America. They’ve claimed 92 of a possible 96 points so far in 2026 and with six races remaining, may put themselves in position to wrap up the title early.
Best of the rest so far have been Lindsay Brewer and Keawn Tandon, who have four podiums from six races in their No. 77 Forty7 Motorsports, Lamborghini Houston, Huracán. They’re at the head of a four-car battle for second, covered by just 16 points. Brewer won here last year in Am with Jem Hepworth as part of an all-female lineup.
Am
With six podiums from six starts, David Staab is writing the book on consistency in Am. The driver of the No. 48 Precision Performance Motorsports, Lamborghini Palm Beach, Huracán only has one win but has consistently featured on the box as his nearest rivals have changed from race-to-race.
Dean Neuls, in his No. 70 TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Miami, Huracán, was the first driver to two wins in the class and sits second, just 10 points in arrears. Two-time LB Cup champion Nick Groat won his Am debut in his No. 57 XONINE Racing, Lamborghini Chicago, Huracán at Sebring but hasn’t been back to the top since. Groat did win twice here last year in LB Cup. He’s part of a close battle for third, also featuring teammate Anthony Bullock – a two-time winner in his own No. 12 XONINE entry – and Johan Schwartz, who shares the No. 89 89X Motorsports, Lamborghini Sarasota Huracán with Mike Fitzpatrick.
LB Cup
The closest championship battle resides in the hotly contested LB Cup division. A post-race penalty in Race 2 at Watkins Glen flipped the race results and the standings; Philippe Touchette (No. 11 TB Autosports, Lamborghini Montreal, Huracán) now leads Rocky T. Bolduc (No. 99 Topp Racing, Lamborghini Greenwich, Huracán) by just one point.
Five different drivers have already won races in LB Cup this year, as beyond Touchette and Bolduc, Ray Shahi (No. 65 Taurino Racing) and Forty7 Motorsports teammates Christopher Koebbe (No. 66) and Christopher Tasca (No. 95) all have a win apiece. It’s made for an intense and deep LB Cup field.
Lamborghini Super Trofeo practices on Thursday with qualifying Friday morning and the two 50-minute races Friday at 4:45 p.m. ET (3:45 p.m. CT and local time) and Saturday at 6 p.m. ET (5 p.m. CT). Races stream via Peacock, IMSA’s YouTube channel and Lamborghini’s YouTube channel.
