Round 3 Racing the Best of Both Classes in Race 1

Race 1 Results

ALTON, Va. – Cole Loftsgard earned his seventh victory of the season Saturday, contributing to a multi-class triumph by Round 3 Racing in race one of Mustang Challenge North America at Virginia International Raceway.

In a race that saw multiple full-course yellow periods resulting from the intense competition, Loftsgard successfully managed every start and restart to claim victory in the Dark Horse class. Devin Anderson challenged Loftsgard at every new green flag, ultimately finishing in second and earning the inaugural JKTG Driving Research award for being the highest finishing Ford Racing Development Driver.

In Dark Horse Legends, Oleg Gorshkov and Tom Tait were in a race-long battle for the lead, with Gorshkov ultimately bringing his third win in three races.

COLE LOFTSGARD, No. 42 Round 3 Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R (DH) –  “It was a challenging race for us with all the restarts. [Devin] Anderson and I battled during each one, but I was able to stay in front. Thanks to Round 3 Racing for giving me a great Dark Horse R this weekend. It’s a good feeling to get the win, and we’ll keep this momentum going.”

OLEG GORSHKOV, No. 70 Round 3 Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R (DHL) – “We had limited green flag laps, which made today’s race challenging. Tom Tait and I exchanged positions a few times, and at the end of the day I got it done to bring home the win. It feels good to help Round 3 Racing win in both classes, and hopefully I can do it again tomorrow.”
