Lexus Hits The Track As Official Safety Vehicle At Daytona

The new Lexus IS 350 F SPORT is set to serve as the Official Safety Vehicle in the 2021 season-opening IMSA race at Daytona International Speedway. The thrilling new Lexus IS will hit the track on Saturday, leading the IMSA Prototype Challenge field to the green flag to kick off the IMSA season.

“We’re eager to get the 2021 IMSA season started and honored to have the Lexus brand serve as the Official Safety Vehicle to kick off an exciting year of racing this weekend at Daytona,” said Jeff Bal, Lexus motorsports manager. “Lexus has gone all in on the new 2021 IS with careful craftmanship and countless hours of testing to engineer our most dynamic IS sport sedan yet.”

The 2021 IS further cements the bond between driver and vehicle by providing an enhanced linear driving characteristic that provides clear and direct feedback to the driver. Driving performance of the vehicle is enhanced through rigidity, chassis and suspension enhancements. The 311-horsepower IS F SPORT features a host of visual and performance cues that immediately set it apart, including a unique front bumper with functional aerodynamic enhancements, rear bumper, grille surround, rear lip spoiler, rocker molding and more. Along with F SPORT 19-inch wheels, a unique center cap and larger rear tires for added performance (265/35R19), they are also equipped with a cool air intake with sound generator and an F SPORT exhaust and diffuser.

Vasser Sullivan Racing driver Jack Hawksworth is included in the latest Lexus marketing campaign for the IS entitled ‘All In.’ Hawksworth can be seen in one of the national commercials along with several others from all walks of life who introduce themselves by names they’ve earned.
