Lucas Claims Maiden Mustang Challenge Victory at VIR

Provisional Race 2 Results

ALTON, Va. – After moving up the Ford Racing Sports Car Pyramid in 2026, Will Lucas earned his first Mustang Challenge win on Sunday (Saturday recap here). The victory came at Virginia International Raceway, the site where he won both the Miles Cup and Parnelli Cup championships in Mustang Cup USA in 2025.

Lucas found himself battling teammate Sandy Satullo for the win in the Dark Horse class after Devin Anderson and Cole Loftsgard fell down the running order. Once Lucas took the lead, he successfully defended against challenges from Satullo for the remainder of the race to score the win. Lucas also earned the JKTG Driving Research Award for being the highest-finishing Ford Racing Development Driver.

Oleg Gorshkov brought home his fourth win in four races in Dark Horse Legends after starting fourth and working his way forward throughout the race.

WILL LUCAS, No, 34 Wheelhouse Motorsports Ford Mustang Dark Horse R (DH) – “It’s pretty crazy that things came full circle like this. It’s a good story to get my first Mustang Challenge win where I won my Mustang Cup [USA] championships. I feel like I had the pace to run at the front all weekend, and I was able to put it all together today. [Sandy] Satullo was really putting the pressure on me for the last 35 minutes of the race, but I was able to keep him behind me.”

OLEG GORSHKOV, No. 70 Round 3 Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R (DHL) – “It feels really good to sweep the weekend. Today I was able to get the win by staying consistent and taking advantage when the guys in front of me made mistakes. A big thank you to Round 3 Racing, they prepped me an amazing Mustang Dark Horse R.”
