Scuderia Corsa Begins 2020 Race Season

Scuderia Corsa kicks off the 2020 race season with the opening rounds of both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Ferrari Challenge North America at Daytona International Speedway.
The IMSA and Ferrari series activity accumulate to create the IMSA 24 At Daytona race weekend. The festival-like atmosphere brings top tier sports car teams from around the globe in hot pursuit of being crowned the winner of the twice-around-the-clock classic. Ferrari Challenge competitors enjoy the atmosphere of the 24-hour race while inheriting perks and tests alike by hosting both a day and night race on the road course.
Scuderia Corsa enters the Daytona 24 race with a powerhouse lineup of GT Daytona Class veterans. Drivers Cooper MacNeil, Toni Vilander, Alessandro Balzan and Jeff Westphal are behind the wheel of the No. 63 WeatherTech Ferrari 488 EVO. MacNeil will pull double duty for the weekend racing in both series. Newcomer Michael Krekel joins him in Ferrari Challenge. This is Krekel’s first time to the history Daytona International Speedway. Ferrari Challenge Driver and Champion Lisa Clark will unfortunately miss the season kickoff after an incident during testing sidelined Clark. She is wished a speedy recovering.
To watch Scuderia Corsa, take on the IMSA 24 At Daytona fans have multiple, new viewing options from home. For the first time, both the opening and closing hours of the Daytona 24 will air live on NBC. The race is available in its entirety on the new NBC Gold TrackPass. The TrackPass gives viewers in the United States a chance to watch every IMSA events on live stream for $20 dollars a year. TrackPass does not replace or change Ferrari Challenge’s live stream services on races.ferrari.com. For Team Owner Giacomo Mattioli starting off 2020 with his entire team in one location is a thrilling occasion.
“It’s not every year that we have the opportunity to begin our programs together as one team,” Mattioli said. “While it is an exciting weekend, it also takes much focus and preparation to run two series at the track. For Cooper, the extra track time will make him a very effective teammate for Michael, who we are happy to have joined us for his first year. Daytona is a weekend I always look forward to, and the team shares my sentiments.”
The IMSA 24 At Daytona weekend kicks off with practice sessions Wednesday, Jan. 22 and Thursday, Jan. 23. GTD qualifying takes place Thursday at 4:15 p.m. ET followed by the first Ferrari Challenge race of the weekend at 9:05 p.m. Race 2 will take place Friday, a single IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice session prefaces Jan. 24 at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:35 p.m. the green flag will fall for the start of the 24-hour endurance classic.
