The Wait is Almost Over

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – As the calendar turns to March in a few days, sports car racing fans are anxiously awaiting the next event on the schedule and that is none other than the second annual SuperSebring weekend.

Four days of on-track action await fans from March 18-21 at iconic Sebring International Raceway featuring the biggest names in sports car racing. The event promises to give fans a look into the future of the sport following the historic “Convergence” announcement by IMSA and the ACO last month in Daytona.

The weekend is highlighted by the running of IMSA’s 68th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts on Saturday at 10:40 a.m. and Friday’s FIA WEC (World Endurance Challenge) 1000 Miles of Sebring starting at 12 noon.

Gates at Sebring open on Wednesday at 6 a.m.

And now fans can finalize their schedules as the gates to the facility will open on Wednesday, March 18 at 6 a.m. That allows plenty of time to set up camp as the first on-track action is scheduled for 8:55 a.m. later that morning.

The first of four weekend races begins Thursday with the IMSA Prototype Challenge race at 11:55 a.m. followed by the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 at 3:50 p.m.

In addition to a jaw-dropping schedule of racing events featuring the world’s top sports car racing teams, Sebring offers plenty of off track activities including driver autograph sessions, manufacturer displays, entertainment at the Party Zone, vintage race car exhibit at the Gallery of Legends (now located on The Midway), fireworks, plenty of great food and the popular pre-race grid walks.

For those that show up early, the 3rd Annual Fan Fest in Historic Downtown Sebring kicks-off race week on Tuesday, March 17, with a spectacular parade of race team transporters, followed by fan activities at the historic circle in downtown Sebring. There is no admission fee and there will be drivers on hand signing autographs and other activities for race fans.
