Performance Tech Motorsports is locked and loaded for Round 4 of the IMSA iRacing Pro Series at Road America.
Performance Tech Motorsports’ veterans Cameron Cassels, British Columbia, and Kyle Masson, Windemere, are gearing up for the fourth of six 90-minute races across virtual North American tracks on iRacing. The invitational series consists of 50 hand-selected drivers promising fierce competition, and the 14 turn, 4.05-mile virtual Road America is sure to bring out the best. With the risks involved in crashing completely diminished drivers have leveled up their battles, taking risks and pushing for gaps nearly unnoticeable to the untrained eye.
Team Principal Brent O’Neill is eager to build upon what the team has learned over the past month.
“This has really been a learning curve for everyone,” O’Neill said. “Drivers have always used simulators to lay down a few laps before the weekend but now we’ve got the whole team involved. We have our engineers working on setups, we’re coming up with strategies and we’ve got spotters for all for the guys. It really is a taste of being at the track without leaving your house.”
Cassels is once more behind the wheel of the red and black No. 75 BMW M8. This will be his third appearance on the grid marking him as one of the few drivers selected for three consecutive weeks. Having tested two widely different strategies in the previous races he looks to follow a hybrid plan this week featuring the best of both.
Masson hops back into the red, black, and chrome No. 38 Centinel Spine BMW M8 for the 90-minute sprint race. The Florida native made a grand entrance in his first IMSA iRacing Pro Series event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course battling within the top ten for a majority of the race. He aims to build upon that success this week and finish in one of the coveted podium spots.
The green flag falls at Road America on Thursday, May 14 at 6:00 p.m. ET. The sprint race will be streamed live on iRacing’s YouTube channel, Twitch or Facebook with commentary from IMSA Radio announcer John Hindhaugh. Pre- and post-race programming also is planned for The Torque Show, hosted by Justin Bell and Tommy Kendall.
