Performance Tech Motorsports is scheduled for a virtual double-header with back-to-back days of iRacing events.
Performance Tech Motorsports kicks off its iRacing run with Round 2 of the teams’ hosted event; The Performance Playoff at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The Performance Playoff is an event focused on comradery and fun and is open to all drivers, crew members, and fans alike.
The 30 entrants take to the virtual 15 turn, 2.3-mile track in a spec HPD LMP2 to ensure a level playing field while enhancing the competition. There is one mandatory pit stop during the race along with live yellow flags for incidents. The event has a 90-minute free practice starting at 5 p.m. ET, followed by a 15-minute qualifying with the 60-minute feature race completing the day. All sessions are broadcast live on the team’s Facebook page.
“It’s really exciting to have our own race going,” Team Principal Brent O’Neill said. “We ran one last week and everyone had a blast. This week we have a live broadcast so everyone can join in the fun even if you don’t have a sim.”
“We’re following up our race with the IMSA iRace with Kyle. He’s gained automatic entry from his finishing position every race which has only gotten better each time. I think we seriously have a shot at the podium this week if we can keep our nose clean and be there at the end.”
The penultimate round of the IMSA iRacing Pro Series at VIRginia International Raceway takes place Thursday, May 28. Kyle Masson, Windemere, will fly the Performance Tech banner for the third consecutive race in the No. 38 Centinel Spine BMW M8. Masson improved 13 positions from Round 3 to Round 4 securing him an eleventh-place finish at Road America. He hopes to use that momentum to earn one of the top-five finishing positions during this week’s race.
The Performance Playoff at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course goes live at 5:00 p.m. ET for 90-minutes of practice. Qualifying begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the green flag at 6:45 p.m. for 60-minutes of pure racing. The race will be broadcast through its entirety on the Performance Tech Motorsports Facebook page.
The green flag falls at VIRginia International Raceway on Thursday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. ET. The sprint race will be streamed live on iRacing’s YouTube channel, Twitch or Facebook with commentary from IMSA Radio announcer John Hindhaugh. Pre- and post-race programming also is planned for The Torque Show, hosted by Justin Bell and Tommy Kendall.
