Elkhart Lake, Wis. Porsche Carrera Cup North America watched three different drivers win three different races at Road America during Round 5 of the 2026 season.
The pair of races on Friday, won by TOPP Racing teammates Tyler Maxson and Cole Kleck, were regularly scheduled races. Saturday morning’s race was rescheduled after the threat of severe weather forced its postponement at Miami in Round Three. That race utilized the Miami grid to start the race at Road America.
Race 1. Friday, July 31.
Tyler Maxson strengthened his Mobil Pro title campaign with a commanding flag-to-flag victory.
Maxson started on the Race Brew Pole and kept his No. 77 TOPP Racing Porsche 911 Cup in front of the 22-car field through the 40-minute, caution-free race.
In clean air, Maxson ticked off lap after lap to hold the Mobil Pro Class and overall lead. His gap was still just more than 1.5 seconds until Callum Hedge, then running second, suffered technical issues and pulled off course with two laps to go which gave Maxson even more breathing room.
Behind Maxson, the order continued to shuffle. Aaron Jeansonne (Kellymoss) and Hedge (JDX Racing) moved around Cole Kleck early and battled for second place. Hedge moved past Jeansonne with an over/under move in Turn 5 with 29 minutes remaining and then aimed for Maxson. Hedge did manage to turn the fastest lap of the race in 2:08.194 to earn the pole for Race 2 later Friday afternoon.
When Hedge pulled off course, Jeansonne inherited second place in the race.
Kleck crossed the line third but was one of three drivers assigned a 10-second penalty post-race for blocking. That penalty dropped him to fifth, behind Jared Thomas (JTR Motorsports Engineering) and Janne Stiak (ACI Motorsports).
ACI Motorsports driver Patrick Mulcahy extended his Solairus Aviation Pro-Am class point lead with a win at Road America on Friday morning.
Mulcahy was placed at the rear of the field after qualifying when he lost his quickest two laps for bringing out a red flag per series regulations.
By lap two, he had already moved around Josh Conley (Kellymoss) for the class lead and remained there the rest of the way, finishing ninth overall.
A mid-race battle in the Solairus Aviation Masters class was the feature of the race, with the top three cars running nose-to-tail to settle the podium positions.
Rob Walker (JTR Motorsports Engineering) crossed the line first amongst Masters Class competitors, but a penalty issued during the race for blocking cost him 10 seconds post-race.
Walker kept Cirone (ACI Motorsports) at bay, but officials deemed his defense too aggressive and assessed him the penalty with just a few laps remaining. Walker pushed hard to extend his lead, pulling out a six-second gap, but ultimately dropped behind both Cirone and Scott Blind (Ruckus Racing) in the results.
Race 2. Friday, July 31.
A chaotic and caution-filled second race at Road America produced breakthrough victories and continued winning streaks across all three classes, as Cole Kleck captured his first Carrera Cup North America win while Patrick Mulcahy and Marco Cirone extended their championship momentum.
Callum Hedge, a Porsche Carrera Cup Australia champion in 2023, started on the Race Brew pole after the fast lap in Friday morning’s race one. He lost the Mobil Pro class and overall lead to second-starting Kleck of TOPP Racing going into Turn One, dropping to second.
While that was happening, championship leader Tyler Maxson slowed dramatically after his front-left suspension suffered damage. Contact in Turn Five on that same opening lap between a Pro-Am and Masters class car brought out the first of four safety car periods and slowed the field.
The field failed to complete a full green flag lap after the next two restarts. First, Chris Bellomo made contact with the wall in Turn Three. the third caution period cleared only for Pro class drivers Paul Bocuse and Sabré Cook to collide in Turn Five, ending their day earlier than planned.
With eight minutes and 30 seconds remaining, the race restarted for the final time. That was all Hedge needed to take the lead, going around Kleck in Turn Six with just four laps to go. Once in front Hedge finished the job, coming home 2.479 seconds in front of Kleck.
Post-race, Hedge was deemed to have caused the contact that damaged Maxson’s car on the opening lap and was penalized 10 seconds, dropping him to seventh on the results and giving the win back to Kleck.
Janne Stiak (ACI Motorsports) held off Aaron Jeansonne (Kellymosss) to ultimately finish finish second and third, with Jared Thomas (JTR Motorsports Engineering) fourth and Alan Metni (Kellymoss) in fifth.
ACI Motorsports driver Patrick Mulcahy is on a remarkable hot streak in the Solairus Aviation Pro-Am class, with a perfect record in 2026 through the first nine races of the season.
Mulcahy started on the class pole based on his fast lap during Friday morning’s race one, and then led wire to wire including the class fast lap in the afternoon.
Mulcahy finished eighth overall in addition to his class win.
Marco Cirone brought yet another win home for ACI Motorsports, sweeping Friday’s races in the Solairus Masters class.
Like Friday morning, Cirone found himself in a battle with Rob Walker (JTR Motorsports Engineering) over the final green flag stint. Cirone was able to pull away in the closing laps, crossing the line two seconds in front of Walker and 3.5 seconds in front of third place Richard Edge. The Masters podium finished 9th, 10th, and 11th overall, a season best for all three drivers.
Race 3. Saturday, August 1.
JDX Racing driver Callum Hedge conquered a rainy morning at Road America, finally earning his first victory in Porsche Carrera Cup North America.
The race, run on the Pirelli Cinturato WHB rain tire, was ironically a make-up race from the Miami round. That race was postponed due to threatening weather in the area and rescheduled as a third race this weekend at Road America.
Hedge began the race on the Race Brew Pole based on his qualifying performance at the Miami International Autodrome. The race began with an additional pace lap behind the safety car and a single-file start due to the wet conditions.
The polesitter utilized a clear windshield to hold his lead through the opening corners as the field struggled for grip and visibility. Contact between Nikita Lastochkin and Patrick Mulcahy in Turn 12 on the opening lap sent both drivers off track and brought out a full course caution, slowing the field again.
Under pressure from Mobil Pro class point leader Tyler Maxson (TOPP Racing), Hedge stayed in front on the lap six restart. Looking for grip and running the outside line through the Carousel turn, Maxson dropped a wheel off track into the grass and was pulled into the gravel trap. He continued but dropped all the way to eighth place before he was able to rejoin the field.
That gave Hedge some breathing room temporarily, but the field bunched together one last time when a car slid off track and into the gravel trap with 12 minutes remaining.
The eventual winner held his position through one final restart and two clean laps to earn his first victory of the season. Hedge previously crossed the line first at Miami and on Friday at Road America, but post-race penalties dropped him deeper in the field in each of those races.
Aaron Jeansonne (Kellymoss) took one last run at Hedge after the final restart but finished second, just 0.383-second behind. Jared Thomas (JTR Motorsports Engineering) held off Janne Stiak (ACI Motorsports) for third. Sabré Cook grabbed her first top five finish of the season, while Maxson ultimately finished seventh but continues to hold the Mobil Pro class championship lead.
Behind the overall leaders, Scott Blind put in a charge in his Ruckus Racing Porsche 911 Cup.
Blind moved around Solairus Aviation Masters class polesitter Marco Cirone (ACI Motorsports) at the race start, then climbed all the way to ninth place overall by the finish of the race. Cirone finished second in class, followed by Kevin Stadtlander (JDX Racing) on the podium.
Patrick Mulcahy’s day ended early with contact, but still clinched his 10th win of the season in the Solairus Aviation Pro-Am class.

Highlights.
• Pre-race honor. Pre-race of race two on Friday afternoon featured a moment of silence to honor Gunnery Sergeant Joshua Zetzer, who served in the United States Marine Corps for 17 years of honorable service. Zetzer’s wife, Ashely, his son Jaxson, and other family members were in attendance at Road America, hosted by the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and PenFed Credit Union.
• Indy Next. Round six of Porsche Carrera Cup North America will take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in conjunction with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship weekend, September 18 to 20. The Porsche 911 Cup cars will race on Saturday and Sunday during the Indy weekend.
