Park Place Motorsports is positioning to ditch the lucky number at Sebring International Raceway for Round Two of the MICHELIN Pilot Challenge after the No. 7 VOLT Lighting Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR finished seventh in Round One.
Drivers Alan Brynjolfsson and Trent Hindman compete in the Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 at Sebring March 15 as part of the Super Sebring and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Advanced Auto Parts weekend.
The weekend showcases four races featuring both prototype and GT racing. Sports car fans can get up close and personal with the multiple GT manufacturers including Porsche and various prototypes including the Le Mans Prototype 1, Le Mans Prototype 2, Le Mans Prototype 3, and Daytona Prototype.
Brynjolfsson and Hindman showed the strength of the new Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport at Daytona International Raceway for Round One. In Round Two a bumpy Sebring surface and more technical track configuration will put the No. 7 VOLT Lighting Cayman through new tests. The curves will instinctively highlight the agility of the Porsche Cayman GT4 while the long straights provide passing opportunity and the chance to showcase driver ability.
Team Principal Patrick Lindsey was impressed with Hindman and Brynjolfsson’s opening run. A late penalty having been the only thing to stop the duo from a podium finish. He’s hoping Sebring International Raceway offers a clean race with an equal occasion for success.
“I think they proved that Park Place is a team to watch in the Michelin Pilot series,” Lindsey said. “They were really fast in Daytona. In the last few years, Sebring has become better for Porsche, so I hope that holds true this year and in that series. The team has had more time together, and with one race under our belt, people are better familiarized with each other. That should mean that Sebring goes even smoother, you never know what a race weekend can hold. Ideally, we walk away with more points and a podium.”
The Michelin Pilot Challenge begins the weekend with practice Thursday, March 14. Park Place Motorsports caps the day off with qualifying, which takes place 6:15 pm ET.
